Munich Airport has reported a significant increase in passenger traffic for the first six months of 2024, with over 19 million travellers passing through its terminals.<\/p>\n

The figures represent a 14.8 percent rise compared to the same period last year, bringing the airport to nearly 85 percent of its pre-pandemic passenger volume from 2019.<\/p>\n

Aircraft movements also saw a substantial uptick, with more than 156,000 take-offs and landings recorded – a 10.3 percent increase year-on-year.<\/p>\n

Notably, the airport achieved a record-high average load factor of 80 percent for aircraft, indicating a strong recovery in air travel demand.<\/p>\n

Intercontinental traffic showed particularly robust growth, with passenger numbers rising by almost 19 percent.<\/p>\n

Travel to destinations in the Far East has now returned to 2019 levels, matching the high demand already seen for flights to the United States.<\/p>\n

The airport now offers flights to approximately 160 destinations worldwide, including 47 intercontinental routes.<\/p>\n

Cargo operations at Munich Airport have also benefited from the increased air traffic, with volumes rising by 11 percent to around 147,000 tonnes compared to the first half of 2023.<\/p>\n

The positive trend is expected to continue, with airlines increasingly utilising modern long-haul aircraft such as the Airbus A350-900 for flights from Munich.<\/p>\n

While 140 weekly departures are currently scheduled for this aircraft type during the summer, this number is set to increase to 170 in the autumn.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
