{"id":96856,"date":"2024-09-06T09:42:27","date_gmt":"2024-09-05T23:42:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/?p=96856"},"modified":"2024-09-11T02:53:15","modified_gmt":"2024-09-10T16:53:15","slug":"industry-leaders-to-discuss-safety-and-innovation-at-iata-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/2024\/09\/industry-leaders-to-discuss-safety-and-innovation-at-iata-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"Industry leaders to discuss safety and innovation at IATA conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold its World Safety and Operations Conference (WSOC) in Marrakech, Morocco from 1-3 October 2024.<\/p>\n<p>The conference, hosted by Royal Air Maroc, will focus on &#8220;Embracing Innovation and Technology for Safe and Efficient Operations&#8221; amid growing industry challenges.<\/p>\n<p>IATA Director General Willie Walsh said the event would address complex operational issues facing airlines.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;WSOC 2024 is the forum for industry leaders and experts to share knowledge and experience to make the industry even more resilient and robust in the face of emerging challenges,&#8221; Walsh said.<\/p>\n<p>Royal Air Maroc CEO Abdelhamid Addou highlighted the importance of safety as the airline expands.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is in particularly sharp focus at Royal Air Maroc as we embark on a major expansion to become a 200-aircraft airline by 2037,&#8221; Addou said.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will feature speakers from major airlines, manufacturers and regulatory bodies, including Ethiopian Airlines CEO Mesfin Tasew Bekele and NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy.<\/p>\n<p>Sessions will cover topics such as runway safety, AI applications, accident investigations and cybersecurity risks.<\/p>\n<p>Workshops will address air traffic management efficiency, safety culture, and turbulence management using real-time data.<\/p>\n<p>The event aims to help airlines navigate challenges like regional conflicts, cyber threats and extreme weather while leveraging technological advances to improve safety and efficiency.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold its World Safety and Operations Conference (WSOC) in Marrakech, Morocco from 1-3 October 2024.
