{"id":96944,"date":"2024-10-03T09:51:52","date_gmt":"2024-10-02T23:51:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/?p=96944"},"modified":"2024-10-07T14:54:16","modified_gmt":"2024-10-07T03:54:16","slug":"korean-air-celebrates-major-milestones-in-hong-kong-operations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/2024\/10\/korean-air-celebrates-major-milestones-in-hong-kong-operations\/","title":{"rendered":"Korean Air celebrates major milestones in Hong Kong operations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Korean Air is marking two significant anniversaries: 55 years of passenger service and 50 years of cargo operations to Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>The airline&#8217;s inaugural flight to Hong Kong took place in October 1969, establishing a vital route that has become one of the carrier&#8217;s most important international services.<\/p>\n<p>Korean Air&#8217;s first international route, launched on 2 October 1969, connected Seoul, Osaka, Taipei, Hong Kong, Saigon and Bangkok.<\/p>\n<p>In response to increasing demand, the airline introduced a direct Seoul-Hong Kong route on 2 December 1969.<\/p>\n<p>Korean Air launched its first cargo service to Hong Kong on 9 September 1974.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past five decades, the Hong Kong passenger route has grown from two weekly flights to 28, making it the busiest in Korean Air&#8217;s Greater China network.<\/p>\n<p>To commemorate the 55th anniversary, Korean Air is hosting a series of events:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On 2 October, passengers on flight KE172 from Hong Kong to Incheon will have a chance to win special prizes, including Prestige Class and Economy Class tickets.<\/li>\n<li>On 17 October, the airline will participate in the &#8220;National Day of the Republic of Korea&#8221; event in Hong Kong, offering limited-edition postcards featuring historical moments from its 55 years of service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Park Ki Tae, Regional General Manager of Korean Air&#8217;s Hong Kong Passenger Sales Office, said: &#8220;Korean Air has played a key role in connecting Hong Kong and Korea, not just through transportation, but also by fostering cultural and economic exchanges.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He added that the airline remains committed to serving as a vital bridge between the two regions while striving to provide exceptional customer service.<\/p>\n<p>The anniversaries highlight Korean Air&#8217;s long-standing commitment to connecting Korea and Hong Kong, and its role in facilitating regional cooperation and positioning itself as a critical bridge in Asia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Korean Air is marking two significant anniversaries: 55 years of passenger service and 50 years of cargo operations to Hong Kong.
